Der Mann hatte Geld damit verdient, im Auftrag von Online-Apotheken Werbung zu machen. Die operieren oft außerhalb des Gesetzes und verlassen sich für die Verbreitung ihrer Angebote fast ausschließlich auf Spam-Kampagnen. SpamIt organisierte dafür die Infrastruktur, indem das Unternehmen im Untergrund-Markt Kapazitäten von Botnetz-Betreibern einkaufte und über die zahllosen gekaperten Privat-PC seine Nachrichten verschicken ließ. Nun fällt mit SpamIt ein wichtiger Zwischenhändler in der undurchsichtigen Halbwelt der Spam-Versender aus.
Viagra-Verkauf ohne LizenzDabei interessiert die russische Polizei offiziell der Versand der Spam-Nachrichten wenig. Die Ermittler werfen dem geflohenen SpamIt-Betreiber vor, selbst eine eine Internet-Apotheke ohne Lizenz zu betreiben. Zudem sei das Unternehmen nicht registriert. Am Dienstag dieser Woche durchsuchte die Polizei die Wohnung des 31-Jährigen und beschlagnahmte drei Laptops sowie mehrere externe Festplatten und Speicherkarten. Die Aktion ist eine radikale Abkehr von der bisherigen Laissez-Fair-Politik – gegen Spam-Versender ist Russland bisher eher lasch vorgegangen.
