Dexter - Circle Us - Episode review

You may have noticed that I skipped last week's review. No real reason for it - I watched the episode, just wasn't motivated to write about it. The highlight - and low point - of the episode was the ludicrous escape of Dexter's clingfilm clad captive and the totally implausible placement of two bodies to get himself out of a sticky situation. As if Masuka thrusting his groin like Duffman on viagra was going to make us forget how unbelieveable that whole scene was.
Moving swiftly on to Circle Us , the episode named after a prayer by Harrison's nanny. With his renewed focus on capturing and killing the gang of men who tortured and raped Lumen (Julia Stiles), Dexter for once has a bulk order to deal with, and a rookie killer in tow.
What really complicates matters is that the gang are spooked by the phone call informing them that Lumen is alive, so they decide to dispose of those barrels of dead girls in formaldehyde. Don't think about this too long, because there's really no way they could know that Lumen knows where the bodies are. For one thing, who was going to tie the barrels back to the gang? And where else were they going to store them?

The White House sent Ezekiel Emanuel, a top-level health advisor, on a three-country visit to Africa ahead of a proposed expansion of funding for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) including malaria. During the visit Emanuel toured remote rural communities and spoke with health officials about a variety of concerns on efforts to combat malaria. Emanuel reiterated the United State's commitment to fighting malaria and working in cooperation with African states and partners to provide the continent with proper financial and medical resources.
The global fight against malaria could cut prevalence rates of malaria to one in 20 fevers by 2017, Special Advisor on Health Policy to the Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget Ezekiel Emanuel said in an interview in Dakar, Senegal, Bloomberg reports.
Currently, malaria “is the cause of nearly half of all clinically reported fevers on the continent,” the news service notes. “Cases of malaria may decline as bed nets, rapid-test kits and health workers reach Africa's more remote areas, Emanuel said,” the news service reports.
“One-third of the world's 108 countries where malaria is endemic, including nine African nations, reduced cases of malaria by at least 50 percent over the past decade, according to the WHO. In Senegal, where Emanuel toured villages and met with the country's health minister last weekend, malaria deaths have fallen by about 70 percent since 2006, he said,” according to Bloomberg.
