Quarantined for yoga, Sydney : Holiday Goddess, Female-Friendly Travel
Q Station sits on Sydney’s North Head and boasts spectacular views of the harbour from the city all the way to its Manly entrance. It’s a spectacular location that was once so remote from the city it was chosen in the early 1800s as the location for Sydney’s first quarantine station when a case of typhus was discovered on a ship full of immigrants.
It’s famous for its ghost tours that have been running here since before it was transformed into a 5-star resort. But this weekend I’m staying here for a rather different reason.
When I signed up for one of Q Station’s yoga retreats I had no idea what to expect, except the prospect of a rather relaxing sounding weekend spent in a luxurious resort. Sounds good so far and it starts at 3pm on Friday afternoon so it’s also a great excuse to leave the office early.
I’m joined on this retreat by a range of companions, all with different reasons for being here. Some are celebrating a birthday weekend, some for rehabilitation reasons and some to work on yoga technique.
One inspiring woman, driven almost to the brink looking after her three children-under-5-years, drove into the city to her husband’s office, handed said kids over to him along with the keys to the SUV and jumped on the Manly ferry.
